Dietary Dialium guineense stem-bark supplementation improves growth performance and haemato-biochemical characteristics of broiler chickens

Poultry farmers, particularly in developing countries, are concerned about the rising cost of conventional feed additives such as antibiotics. This has sparked a lot interest search for phytogenic (PFAs) that can be used alternative to antibiotic growth promoter chicken diets. Thus, purpose this study was evaluate chemical composition Dialium guineense stem-bark (DGSB) one PFAs, and its effect supplementation on performance Ross 308 broiler chickens. Fresh D. stem barks were manually harvested, dried shade thereafter milled into DGSB powder. The chemically analysed standard diets supplemented with at 0 (T1), 0.5 (T2), 1.0 (T3) 1.5 (T4) g kg−1 feed. 200 day-old chicks raised starter mash from days 1–21 finisher 22–47. Maximum ADFI achieved DGSB/kg Birds group T2 recorded lowest conversion ratio (FCR) 1.90, while those T4 had highest FCR 2.68.
